Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a fast-reacting employee was able to slam the door on a would-be robber Wednesday morning in west Charlotte.
The suspect fired a shot into the business, but no injuries were reported, police said.
The attempted robbery was reported about 8 a.m. at the LA Insurance office in the 2600 block of Westerly Hills Drive. Police said a man entered the business, pointed a gun at an employee, and demanded money.
The employee quickly closed the door, forcing the suspect outside. The man fired a shot into the business and then ran off, investigators said.
The suspect was described as a black male, about 5 feet 10, with a thin beard. He was wearing a black toboggan and all gray clothes.
