Police spent much of the night at an apartment complex in south Charlotte, continuing to investigate a fatal shooting Thursday evening.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives left the scene about 5 a.m., after collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses at the High Meadow Condominiums on Farmhurst Drive, near where Nations Ford Road meets Interstate 77.
No arrests have been announced in the case. Late Thursday, police identified the victim as Bias Easley, 27.
Earlier Thursday evening, crime scene investigators had blocked the man’s body from view and could be seen taking photographs of the body and the scene.
Investigators haven’t released the name or a description of a suspect, who was being sought by a large contingent of officers. Some could be seen combing a nearby wooded area, another was leading a police tracking dog. A police helicopter was also used in the search.
It was unclear what led to Thursday’s shooting.
Police encourage anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters are eligible for a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
