A tip from a citizen led to the arrest of a Maiden man Friday in connection with a drugstore robbery from earlier in the week, officials said Saturday.
Ross Bradford Brown Jr., 28, of Falcon Ridge Road, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and trafficking in opium or heroin, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The TAS Drug of Maiden store was robbed Monday, when a suspect gave a threatening note to pharmacy staff that said he had a gun and demanded certain controlled substances, Maiden police said.
Officials believe the suspect took roughly $2,500 worth of Oxycodone and Suboxone pills during the robbery.
Lincoln County personnel received information Friday night about the robbery. Together with Maiden police, officials went to the Falcon Ridge Road residence where Brown and several others live.
After receiving consent to search the home and a vehicle, authorities said they found $1,400 in cash and a “trafficking amount” of the same medications taken from the pharmacy in Brown’s bedroom.
During their search, officials said Brown ran from the residence but was caught after a short foot chase through a wooded area. Authorities said they were able to recover some of the drugs taken during the robbery. Brown is being held under $350,000 secured bond at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
