Several Rowan County schools went into lock-down Wednesday after a man called Morgan Elementary School saying he was going to shoot people at noon.

Morgan Elementary School contacted the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office of the threat. It was the last day for almost all schools that went into lock-down, which meant several parents and families were there for last day of school activities.

Activities resumed once authorities determined there was no active ongoing threat.

Rowan County Sheriff’s Office investigators pinpointed the phone where the call came from to a pay-phone at a business on Jake Alexander Boulevard and Mooresville Road in Salisbury.

A small white SUV-type vehicle was at the pay-phone where the call was placed. The suspect is a white man. Anyone with information is asked to call Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687.
