Two people were injured in Lancaster on Saturday after shots fired at a home during the night also hit a neighboring house, police say.
At about 10:35 p.m., officers responded to Ferguson Street in the city after receiving an anonymous call about shots fired, according to a Lancaster Police Department news release. After checking the area for several minutes, police discovered that the shooting actually happened at a house on Witherspoon Street.
Police learned that rounds hit the house, as well as two cars parked in the driveway, the release states. A neighboring home was also hit.
While on scene, police learned from officials at Springs Memorial Hospital that a shooting victim had just arrived, the release states. Police went to the emergency room and met with a victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Some time later, a second victim arrived with a non-life threatening wound.
The victim suffering from the more serious wounds was airlifted to another hospital, where they remain in serious condition, the release states. Police would not release the ages, genders or identities of the gunshot victims.
Police on Monday are continuing their investigation into the shooting. Authorities have not established a clear motive or suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Lancaster Police Department at (803) 283-1173 or anonymous tip line at (803) 289-6040.
