Police have arrested and charged a man in Friday’s robbery of the First Citizens Bank at 6709 N. Tryon St.

Michael Keith Hall, 56, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Tuesday.

At about 4 p.m. Friday, a man walked into the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding money, police said. The man received the money and left the bank.

Police soon arrived and set up a perimeter. When Hall saw the officers, he took off running, police said.

A resident flagged down officers and told them the man was hiding behind his home on Hampton Way. Officers apprehended Hall and transported him to police headquarters, where he was interviewed by robbery detectives.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or the FBI in Charlotte at 704-672-6100.
