A call to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s narcotics tip line led to a meth lab bust near Lincolnton and the arrest of a man on drug charges.

Colby Ray Williams, 30, was arrested Monday after investigators said they discovered the remains of five one-pot methamphetamine labs and the chemicals used to make the drug in woods near his home in the 4600 block of Flay Road.

Williams was charged with one felony count each of possessing/distributing meth precursor and manufacturing a schedule II controlled substance.

Williams was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center without bond pending an appearance in Lincoln County District Court.

The meth lab was the fifth found in Lincoln County this year.

Narcotics Lt. Jason Reid said most of the department’s drug investigations begin with tips phoned in by the community.

The tip line number is 704-736-8422.
