A 22-year-old Salisbury man has been charged in the June 9 shooting death of his cousin.
Roy Jacob Bryant, 23, died of a shotgun wound to his stomach, Rowan County sheriff’s investigators said.
His cousin, Timothy Scott Glover, has been arrested and charged with one count each of involuntary manslaughter and possession of a weapon of mass death and destruction. Glover turned himself in at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond.
The pair had been drinking liquor at Glover’s home at 5230 Woodleaf Road when a shotgun discharged, investigators said. Bryant was transported to Rowan Regional Medical Center, where he soon died.
Investigators said they recovered the weapon, an illegal sawed-off 20-gauge shotgun. Glover was charged after the case was presented to the Rowan County District Attorney’s Office.
“The investigation revealed that Glover was impaired on alcohol and acted carelessly with the shotgun, as well as being in possession of an illegal weapon,” sheriff’s investigators said in a news release Wednesday.
