No charges filed in Gastonia fatal crash

Investigators said they believe Mildred Ferguson Moore pulled into the path of another vehicle in the crash, at the intersection of Ozark Avenue and Grover Street.

Gastonia police say no charges will be filed in a Saturday morning crash that killed an 88-year-old woman.

Investigators said they believe Mildred Ferguson Moore pulled into the path of another vehicle in the crash, which was reported about 11:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ozark Avenue and Grover Street. She was struck by a car driven by a 72-year-old Cramerton woman, police said.

According to witnesses, police said Moore was driving a 1999 Geo Prism and turned left on Ozark Avenue onto Grover Street. She was struck by a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am driven by the Cramerton woman.

Police said both women were wearing seat belts, and neither driver was impaired.

Moore had to be freed from her vehicle and died Sunday at Caromont Regional Medical Center. A passenger in Moore’s vehicle was injured.
