Police say they’ve identified the people in a bizarre video circulating online of a man clinging to the back of a car zipping along Interstate 77.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have not released the name of the man on the car or the woman who was driving it.

The incident started about noon Saturday as a domestic dispute at the Payless Shoe Source at South Boulevard and East Woodlawn Road.

The woman, who police say was the victim, drove up Woodlawn and got onto I-77.

Witnesses who recorded the scene from there said the vehicle was moving at roughly 55 mph on the interstate near the Clanton Road exit.

A video they provided to WSOC-TV Channel 9 shows the man hanging onto the back of a white sedan, and one of the witnesses told WSOC that the man appeared to break the back window with something sharp while the car was moving.

The license plate is not legible in the video, but police ultimately were able to track down the people involved.

No one was injured in the incident and no one has been charged.
