Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for a man who allegedly pulled a knife on a clerk early Sunday during the theft of items from a University City convenience store.

The incident, described by police as a robbery, was reported about 4:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven store in the 9600 block of University City Boulevard. That is just north of the UNC Charlotte campus.

Police said a man entered the store and took two 12-packs of beer from the cooler and left the store without paying. The clerk confronted the suspect, police said, and the suspect allegedly pulled a knife and threatened the clerk.

The man drove off in a red pickup truck. Police said the suspect is a white male, about 25-30 years old, 5 foot 8 and 165 pounds.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600, or leave information at http://charlottecrimestoppers.com.
