2 hurt in Charlotte shooting off Freedom Drive

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured, one of them seriously, in northwest Charlotte on Monday evening.
The shooting was reported about 9:15 p.m. in the 8600 block of Deerwood Drive, off Moores Chapel Road, between Interstate 485 and Mount Holly Road.
Police said at least a half-dozen shots were fired by men who drove up to the residence. One victim was shot in the leg and the other in the abdomen.
Medic said one person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and the other with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said the attackers also took a vehicle from the victims’ residence.
Investigators said they don’t think it was a random shooting, and that the attackers and victims knew each other.
