Police released on Tuesday a surveillance video still of Maggie Daniels, the Newton counselor found dead in her apartment June 28.
The video shows Daniels, 31, leaving a Wal-Mart store in Conover on June 27. The store is about 4 miles north of Daniels’ Windsor Apartments home.
Newton police ask that anyone who saw Daniels at the Wal-Mart location to contact investigators at 828-465-7430.
Police still have not release cause of death or whether there are any suspects.
Never miss a local story.
Daniels moved to North Carolina in 2005 just after graduating from Notre Dame College near Cleveland, where she is from.
In May 2013, Daniels received a master’s degree in counseling from Appalachian State University. She began counseling students at Discovery High School in Newton later that year.
A memorial for Daniels is scheduled for 4 p.m. Wednesday at Lemon Gymnasium in Newton-Conover High School, where Daniels once coached basketball and taught English.
