A car slammed into a utility pole south of uptown on Thursday afternoon, knocking out power to people in Myers Park and clogging rush hour traffic.

Queens Road was shut down in both directions near Providence Road after the 4:30 p.m. crash.

Photos from the scene showed a blue four-door BMW resting against the power pole, which had been split in half.

Police have not released details on what caused the crash, or whether anyone had been charged in connection with it. No one had to be transported to the hospital.
