State officials said they charged a Kannapolis man earlier this month with running an unlicensed automobile dealership.
Earnest Washington Dixon was arrested July 10 after a three-week undercover investigation, according to the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles said. The probe indicated that Dixon was running the dealership without state licensing, state officials said.
Dixon owns Bargain Automotive, in the 3000 block of South Cannon Boulevard. State officials said he was charged with 13 felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense. He also was charged with 13 misdemeanor counts of acting as a motor vehicle dealer without being licensed, officials said.
According to investigations, items seized at the site included titles, vehicle bills of sale, vehicle sales files, financial records, and about $6,100 in cash.
