ATV theft in Lincoln investigated

The theft took place in the early-morning hours of July 13, deputies said, from Al Lane’s Kawasaki on Highway 27 East.

Lincoln County sheriff’s detectives are working to determine who took an ATV from a dealership in Iron Station earlier this month.

The theft took place in the early-morning hours of July 13, deputies said, from Al Lane’s Kawasaki on N.C. 27 East. Investigators said the thieves broke through a fence around 2:30 a.m. and took an orange-and-gray 2014 Kubota RTV valued at $13,000. A second vehicle had been pushed into a nearby field but was recovered, deputies said.

Investigators said a security camera at a nearby business recorded a small white car pulling behind a neighboring service station, then leaving the scene. About 20 minutes later, the same car returned and was followed by a U-Haul cab-over type of truck.

Detectives said they think three people were involved in the theft.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 704-732-9050 or Crime Stoppers, 704-736-8909.
