Stanly man charged in theft of checks

A 27-year-old Richfield man was arrested and charged with stealing checks from a woman’s home.

On Sunday, the woman reported the theft of multiple checks from her home to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators arrested Keith Morris Morgan on Wednesday and charged him with four counts each of obtaining property by false pretense, forgery of instrument and uttering forged instrument, all felonies.

Morgan was jailed under a $25,000 bond and must appear in Stanly County District Court in Albemarle on Monday.
