Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Saturday they charged two men with multiple counts of armed robbery after a series of incidents Thursday night in the city.
Jakiel Cunningham, 24, and Dominique Moffett, 23, were charged with four counts of robbery and three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery after a crime spree that started around 9 p.m. that night.
Police said that’s when the suspects approached a man in the 1400 block of Sharon Road West and demanded property. After receiving items, one of the suspects struck the victim on the head with a gun before both fled.
Later, about 6 miles north at the 100 block of New Bern Street, police say the armed suspects approached two men. One ran away. The second one told police the suspects assaulted him and fired a shot into his vehicle.
The final victim told police he gave the suspect a ride in exchange for money, and was later robbed at gunpoint. That happened in the 700 block of Albemarle Road.
Police said they nabbed the suspects after spotting a silver Nissan Murano that the suspects used to flee the scene after one of the incidents.
Cunningham and Moffett were taken to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, where they remained in custody Saturday night.
