A Catawba County man has been sentenced to prison because he was carrying a handgun illegally, prosecutors say.

Jonathan Andreas Lineberger, 39, of Catawba, was convicted Tuesday in Catawba County Superior Court on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to between 21 and 35 months in prison, authorities said.

Lineberger was arrested in May 2013 in the parking lot of a Hickory restaurant. Police said they were called to deal with a disturbance, and they reported finding a .380-caliber handgun in Lineberger’s pocket.

Prosecutors said Lineberger was convicted in July 1995 in Catawba County of voluntary manslaughter.
