Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the victim of a Wednesday evening shooting in a north Charlotte apartment complex was 25-year-old Matthew Ryan Wood.
Metro Division officers were called to the Dillehay Courts apartment complex just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. They found a man in the parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators spent several hours late Wednesday and early Thursday canvassing the apartment complex and trying to determine what happened before the shooting. Police don’t have any information about a suspect.
Dillehay Courts was built in 1974 and is managed by the Charlotte Housing Authority, according to its website. It houses nearly 600 people.
The complex was the site of a fire two weeks ago that destroyed a building and displaced two families.
Investigators encourage anyone with information about the homicide to call detectives at 704-432-TIPS. Information can also be left with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
