18-year-old charged with murder in woman’s shooting death

Police have arrested an 18-year-old in the shooting death of a 35-year-old woman on Columbus Circle in west Charlotte on Monday night,
Felicia Amanda Clinkscale died of an apparent gunshot wound after her boyfriend drove her to a hospital emergency room, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Officer Keith Trietley said at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The shooting happened about 7 p.m. in the 2700 block of Columbus Circle and wasn’t a random act of violence, Trietley said.
Police detained Eric Bernard Sloan Jr. without incident on a charge of murder Tuesday morning.
Sloan was transported to police headquarters, where he is being interviewed before he is taken to jail, police said.
Police haven’t said how Sloan knew the victim or what their argument involved.
