A grandson of NASCAR team co-owner and Charlotte businessman Felix Sabates was killed in Florida over the weekend in an accidental shooting, a Florida newspaper reported.
Feliciano Sabates, 18, was fatally shot Saturday by a friend who was drunk and on drugs, according to a Palm Beach Gardens police arrest report cited by the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sun Sentinel.
A group of friends was playing with a 9 mm pistol when a 17-year-old pointed it at Sabates’ chest and fired. The 17-year-old was charged with manslaughter, the paper reported.
An online obituary in the Palm Beach Post said Sabates was known as “Chany Boy,” had a beautiful smile and “loved the beach and hanging with friends.” Adam Bell
