Huntersville police are searching for the robber of Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint who struck the store manager in the face with a handgun before driving away and crashing the car in nearby Cornelius.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday, a man entered the pizzeria after it was closed, police said. Uncle Maddio’s is at 10109 Northcross Center Court.

The robber took personal property from each employee and cash from the safe, police said. The manager suffered minor injuries in the assault, police said.

Arriving officers saw the vehicle leaving the area and pursued it into Cornelius, where it crashed at Poole Place Drive and Bailey Road. The robber ran away and has not been caught.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 704-464-5400.
