Police on Friday arrested and charged a 30-year-old man in the death of Adaline Phillips, 47, whose body was found Thursday night in her home on South Broad Street.

Police charged Dwayne Patrick Robinson with second-degree murder but aren’t saying how they think Phillips died.

In a statement, police said an autopsy will determine the cause of death. Police said only that Phillips’ death “was not natural.”

Shortly before 8 p.m., police responded to the home in reference to a possible homicide. Phillips’ body was discovered by family members, authorities said.

Phillips was last seen Saturday, police said.

Officers said they were told Phillips’ 2001 red Pontiac Grand Am was missing.

Police initially charged Robinson with larceny of a motor vehicle. He was found with Phillips’ car, according to police. According to a WBTV story, friends and family members of Phillips said Robinson was the woman’s boyfriend.

Robinson was in the Gaston County Jail on Friday under a $253,000 secured bond.
