Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged a 20-year-old man in Sunday’s shooting death of another man off Independence Boulevard in southeast Charlotte.
Detectives said Michael Stephon Lineberger was arrested Sunday night, about 12 hours after the body of 26-year-old Kevin Crosson was found. Investigators said Crosson’s body was found in the 1000 block of Coliseum Drive, across Independence Boulevard from the Bojangles’ Coliseum area, after officers had been called about a fight.
Detectives said they believe Lineberger and Crosson knew each other, and they said the shooting resulted from an altercation involving a domestic situation.
Lineberger was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Mecklenburg County jail records show Lineberger has been arrested seven times in less than two years. Those charges ranged from misdemeanors to a July 2013 charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Police ask that anyone with information in the case contact detectives at 704-432-TIPS, or leave the information with Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
