A Caldwell County man could spend most or all of the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of statutory rape of a 13-, 14- and 15-year-old, prosecutors say.

Phillip Matthew Bright, 40, of Granite Falls, was arrested last December and initially charged with three counts of incest with a child. Prosecutors said the crimes took place between 2011 and 2013.

Bright was sentenced by Judge Robert Sumner in Caldwell County Superior Court to between 38 years, 3 months and 51 years, 9 months in prison. In addition, he will be subject to satellite-based monitoring if he is released from prison, and he was ordered to register as a sex offender.
