Gastonia police are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a fraud case.
A man from Simpsonville, S.C., had his personal information used to open a Belk credit card account at the store in Gastonia, police said Friday.
The suspect purchased gift cards that were later redeemed for merchandise, police said.
The suspect appears on store surveillance video wearing a red hoodie and a black ball cap, with a map of the United States on the front of the hat.
Anyone who can identify the suspect is asked to call Gastonia Police Detective Scott McClure at 704-866-6975 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at (704) 861-8000.
Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
