A jailed child rape suspect who authorities said met his victim on Facebook has been charged with more crimes in the case, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Devan Lane Black, 19, of Statesville, was initially charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child and one count of statutory sex offense with a child. He was jailed on $300,000 bail.
Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Jason Lowrance added two counts of disseminating obscene material to a minor against Black after finding that obscene photographs had been sent to the victim through Facebook, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said. Another $25,000 was added to Black’s bail. Investigators are not releasing the age of the victim.
Black also has pending charges in Iredell County Superior Court of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and preparing obscene photographs.
