Private schools in the Charlotte metro area are beginning to release the names of their seniors who have been named semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship program.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools released their list of 43 semifinalists Thursday.
Charlotte Christian School announced today that Will Grey and Brian Wilkinson also are on the list of about 16,000 high school seniors across the United States who scored high enough on the Preliminary SAT to receive semifinalist designation in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
About 45 percent of semifinalists eventually are named winners of the scholarship.
Grey is a member of the Charlotte Christian soccer team, the National Spanish Honor Society and the Summa Cum Laude honor roll. Wilkinson has volunteered in the IT department at the school and works as a trainer at the Plantation Estates Retirement Community in Matthews.
