Students’ art on display in D.C.

Artwork by 17 Charlotte-area students was chosen for display in Washington, D.C., through July.

“Artful Expressions: From the Mountains to the Sea” is an exhibit of two- and three-dimensional paintings, collages, drawings, printmaking and photography by K-12 students. The project is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education and the N.C. Art Education Association.

Students whose art was selected: Max Adair, Liberty Prep Christian Academy in Mooresville; Elif Altug, Elon Park Elementary (colored pencils medium, pictured); Maria Buck, Jay M. Robinson High; Alex Carroll, Northwest School of the Arts; Leslie Cisneros-Sanchez, Lake Wylie Elementary; Yakirah Davis, Piedmont IB Middle; Phoebe Guice, Providence High; Jessica Krom, Hopewell High; Freddy Luviano, Statesville Middle; Maisy Meakin, Gaston Day School; Nick Mills, Winecoff Elementary in Concord; Kayley Pennington, Crestdale Middle in Matthews; Fabiola Perez, Vance High; Samuel Rezac, Pineville Elementary; Jennifer Rushing, Butler High; Ellison Sherill, Myers Park High; Toni Vargas, Vance High (paint and ink medium, pictured).
