Mooresville Middle School’s Carrie Tulbert has been named the Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year.

Tulbert oversaw the school’s 1:1 Digital Conversion, in which every student was issued a laptop. She also implemented another schoolwide program called Capturing Kids’ Hearts that focuses on preparing students to be productive citizens, according to a news release from the Department of Public Instruction.

During Tulbert’s tenure as assistant principal and principal, the school has seen a jump in end-of-grade test scores, a doubling in Algebra 1 enrollment and a drop in suspensions. Staff Reports
