Karla Ferguson-Ramirez, a fourth-grader at Oaklawn Language Academy, finished third in the National Magnet School Poster Contest.

The theme for this year’s contest, sponsored by Magnet Schools of America, was “Creating Opportunities for All!”

Online voting for the top five posters from each level (elementary, middle and high) addressed adherence to theme; clear and concise message/how well the theme is articulated; originality and organization; and use of color and design.

A poster submitted by Oaklawn Language Academy student Axel Rodriguez also reached the national level in the middle school category.
