Danielle Belton and Alejandra Garcia are the two newest principals at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
Belton is the new principal at Paw Creek Elementary and Garcia at Nations Ford Elementary. The school board appointed them to those positions at its meeting Tuesday night.
Belton most recently was the community support coordinator in the West Learning Community. She was a teacher and academic facilitator at Garinger High from 2004 to 2010, then became resident principal at Reid Park Elementary in the New Leaders for New Schools Program in 2010.
She went on to serve as assistant principal at Garinger High in 2011 and 2012 and at Tuckaseegee Elementary in 2012 and 2013. Belton earned her bachelor’s degree from Johnson C. Smith University and her master’s from UNC Charlotte.
Garcia also has been working out of the West Learning Community office, as Exceptional Children area coordinator. She started with CMS as an elementary school teacher from 2002 to 2009, then was a principal intern from 2009 to 2010 at Oakdale Elementary and a resident principal at Pinewood Elementary from 2010 to 2013.
Garcia earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University and her master’s from Gardner-Webb University.
