Bailey Middle School Principal Chad Thomas was recently named principal of the year by the N.C. Parent Teacher Association.

Thomas is in his second year leading the Cornelius school, which has about 1,500 students. During his tenure PTA membership has gone from about 1,000 to 1,500. Bailey PTA leaders nominated Thomas for his rapport with students, families and faculty and his work to make sure the volunteer group includes all families.

Thomas shared the credit with parent leaders. “This is the smoothest and most effective PTA I have been around,” he said. Staff reports
