Iredell County commissioners on Tuesday night will consider placing onto the November general election ballot a referendum on $163.5 million in school bonds.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Iredell County Government Center, 200 S. Center St., in downtown Statesville.

On Facebook, the Mooresville Graded School District encourages parents to speak at the meeting in favor of the bonds. Money would go to projects in both the Mooresville and Iredell-Statesville school systems, including significant renovations to Mooresville High School and a new gymnasium and auditorium at the school.

“It is our understanding that opposition to the bond will be out in force at this meeting, as is their right,” the Mooresviille district said. “It is our right, however, to attend and be part of the democratic process that affects the children of our district.”
