There Were Tart Words After The Pie at WSOC
By Charlie Hanna, Observer staff writer, April 30, 1975
“At approximately 11:20 Monday night, Russ Dubuc had finished his climatic report to WSOC-TV viewers. The precisely groomed weather man sat down at the desk across from anchorman Bill Walker to engage in a traditional moment of banter.
Walker looked off the set and, in what seemed genuine amazement and concern, said something approximating “What the --?” A ski-masked man was coming at Dubuc, accompanied by a lemon meringue pie. He tossed the pie in a very surprised Dubuc’s face.”
Never miss a local story.
The “hit men” were never caught.
