The N.C. Department of Transportation has teamed up with the insurance company Geico to erect "safe phone zone" signs along highways urging drivers to pull in to public rest areas to call, text or surf the web.
The N.C. Department of Transportation has changed its strategy on litter and trash along the highway. Gone are the state prisoners who picked up garbage along the road, replaced by more contractors, some who clean up before they mow the grass.
The NC General Assembly ordered the NC Division of Motor Vehicles to revise its guidelines for traffic stops and directed the state Department of Public Instruction to include the guidelines in the driver’s education curriculum taught to high school students.
Downed lines and traffic signals which have crashed down onto the Brookshire Freeway at Interstate 85 are causing traffic issues Thursday morning. The Brookshire may be closed in both directions all day.
