Amid drama in Washington and on the heels of a Republican health care plan, U.S. Rep. Robert Pittenger will join the Observer Monday for a Facebook Live.
The Charlotte Republican will answer questions from the public and a reporter starting at 9 a.m. on the Observer’s Facebook page. He’ll join the event before flying back to Washington.

There would seem to be no shortage of topics.

President Donald Trump has been more in a series of controversies since he fired FBI Direct James Comey this month. In a statement, Pittenger dismissed news reports of the developments as “24 hour tabloid reporting.”
The congressman also voted for the American Health Care Act, the GOP House attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Last month Pittenger said Republicans had to pass the bill to show they could govern.
“At some point people have to recognize that we need to govern, we’re not there to throw rocks,” he said on WBT radio. “We need to convey to the American people that we can govern … We can’t really move on to tax reform until we’ve done it.”
Pittenger’s 9th District stretches from southeast Charlotte to Fayetteville.
The Observer plans a similar Facebook Live with Democratic Rep. Alma Adams of Charlotte. No date has been set.
