Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Tuesday arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting Monday night, according to WBTV, the Observer’s news partner.
The killing of Harold Rudolph Jones, 63, was the city’s 49th homicide of the year.
WBTV reported that officers were called to the 10600 block of Atkins Ridge Drive in the University area just before 8 p.m. Monday night and found Jones’ body. Medic pronounced him dead on scene.
Early Tuesday morning, officers charged Daryl Roby, 22, with murder in Jones’ death. Police said the two were related and were involved in an altercation when the shooting happened, WBTV reported.
“The initial call for service indicated that the incident appeared to be a suicide but further investigation led detectives to conclude the incident was a homicide,” police say.
Police say anyone with information is asked to call 704-432-TIPS or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
