Carolina Panthers kicker John Kasay is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in New Orleans against the Saints. Kasay, who has a groin injury, didn't practice for a second straight day Friday.
Kasay hasn't missed a game since 2004, when he sat out two games with a calf injury. If Kasay doesn't play Sunday, he would be replaced by kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd. Lloyd hasn't kicked field goals or extra points in the NFL, although he made 16-of-23 field goals in 2007 with NFL Europa's Frankfurt Galaxy (including a 56 yarder). He also hit 26-of-36 field goals in college at Minnesota.
Fullback Brad Hoover, who has a high ankle sprain and is in a cast, is out for Sunday's game.
Others who are questionable and didn't practice Friday: Safety Charles Godfrey (ankle), receiver Muhsin Muhammad (knee), fullback Tony Fiammetta and tight end Dante Rosario (knee).
Muhammad, however, said Thursday that he didn't expect to play.
Linebacker Landon Johnson (shoulder) and running back Jonathan Stewart (Achilles) both practiced and are also listed as questionable.
Panthers tight end Jeff King was fined $5,000 by the NFL for striking an opponent late in the Panthers win last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
Elsewhere
DETROIT: Coach Jim Schwartz says he's optimistic receiver Calvin Johnson (sore knee) and running back Kevin Smith (shoulder) will play Sunday at Seattle.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford was limited in practice this week by a sore right knee but is expected to play.
DENVER: The oldest secondary in the NFL got even more experience with the addition of cornerback Ty Law, who agreed to terms on a contract, pending a physical.
Law has played 14 seasons and turned 35 years old in February. If he becomes one of Denver's top three cornerbacks, the team's top five defensive backs will average 32.6 years old.
GREEN BAY: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Donald Driver practiced and are probable for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay.
Rodgers suffered a sprained toe in last Sunday's 38-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and also has a sprain in his other foot. Driver is recovering from a neck injury.
INDIANAPOLIS: Cornerback Marlin Jackson and strong safety Bob Sanders were lost for the season as the team placed them on injured reserve.
Jackson, who missed the second half of the 2008 season after injuring his right knee during practice, suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his left knee during a non-contact drill Wednesday.
Sanders, a two-time Pro Bowler, tore his left bicep against the 49ers last weekend.
MIAMI: Linebacker Channing Crowder (shoulder) nose tackle and Jason Ferguson (elbow) are listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots.
N.Y. GIANTS: The Giants will insert Aaron Rouse into the starting lineup at safety for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. Rouse will replace beleaguered veteran C.C. Brown, who has been beaten twice on deep passes for touchdowns during a three-game losing streak.
Brown missed a defensive audible in last Sunday's 40-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, allowing DeSean Jackson to score on a 54-yard pass play. Observer News Services
