The availability of leading receiver Steve Smith for the Carolina Panthers' game today against the New York Jets was in question when the team arrived in New Jersey Saturday afternoon.
Smith was added to the injury report with sore ribs, apparently resulting from an "tweak" sustained in practice Friday.
Smith was listed as questionable to play against the Jets, which by NFL rules means there's a 50 percent chance he won't play.
Smith has 45 catches for 599 yards and four touchdowns. He's the only non-tight end on the roster with a TD reception.
In another change to the injury report, defensive end Charles Johnson was downgraded from doubtful to out after not making the trip with the team
