In the summer of 2009, media organizations involved with Charlotte Mission Possible invited citizens to submit fresh ideas to help meet Charlotte's charitable needs. Several hundred people took up the challenge.

With its annual campaign running millions of dollars behind, United Way called an audible Thursday night, kicking off a program at Bank of America Stadium that invited thousands of Carolina Panthers fans to text in $5 donations.

Charlotte Mission Possible is a public service project aimed at helping Charlotte residents understand the charitable needs of the community, and empower them to find ways to meet those needs. It is a joint effort by several local media organizations.
