Basketball schedule | Sweet 16 | Eligible teams

Lake Norman quarterback Josh Ladowski, and running backs Akease Rankin of Mooresville and Rocky Reid of Concord could all be in the starting lineup when the 78th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas kicks off Saturday at Wofford College.

Girls’ basketball Sweet 16 No. 1 Myers Park beat No. 8 Butler 61-24. The Butler boys came back from a nine-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 56-53.

Myers Park girls: Ranked No. 14 in MaxPreps’ national poll. Mustangs beat Butler 61-24 Tuesday.

Less than two weeks ago, Lake Norman High quarterback Josh Ladowski thought his high school football days were over. Ladowski, the NC Gatorade player of the year, was a late addition to the North Carolina roster for the 78th annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas game, to be played Saturday at Wofford College’s Gibbs Stadium.
