Prep Football Game Of The Week

Each week, the Observer names a game of the week involving Mecklenburg County teams and lists others to watch. All playoff games are Friday at 7:30 p.m.

MAIN GAME

East Mecklenburg (6-5) at Greensboro Page (9-2): Which East Mecklenburg will show up? The Eagles, a 12 seed, won four of their first five games, losing only to state power Mallard Creek. Then the Eagles lost three in a row, their proud defense allowing 121 points to Independence, Myers Park and Butler. Since then, the Eagles have won two of the three games and seemed to have righted themselves. They could be trouble for Page, a No. 5 seed that has won six of seven, losing only to Metro champion Greensboro Dudley 18-15.

OTHERS

Country Day (10-1) at Charlotte Latin (9-1): Two teams used to playing in the private school state championship will meet in the semifinals. Raleigh Ravenscroft is at Charlotte Christian in the other semifinal. Latin beat Country Day 28-17 two weeks ago.

North Mecklenburg (6-5) at Olympic (9-2): North Meck won 41-30 to start the season, sparking a 5-1 start. The Vikings have lost four of five to finish the season. Olympic is ME-GA conference champion.
