Andrew Vinson allowed five hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings to lead Texas A&M to an 8-1 victory against Coastal Carolina in a in regional elimination game.
Vinson improved to 5-2. Nick Banks and Logan Nottebrok homered for the Aggies.
A&M (47-12) has allowed only three runs over 32 innings in the regional, with a shutout over Texas Southern and a 2-1, 14-inning loss to California on Saturday night.
The Chanticleers avoided the shutout in the ninth when David Parrett drove in Billy Curtis on a fielder’s choice after two walks and a single loaded the bases.
Anthony Marks led the Chanticleers offense with two hits. Both hits were infield singles to give him 30 for the season. Zach Remillard reached base three times thanks to a pair of walks and a single. Tyler Chadwick broke up Vinson’s no-hit bid with a leadoff double in the fifth.
Coastal Carolina finished the season 39-21.
Pepperdine 10, Clemson 8: Chris Fornaci had a homer and tie-breaking single among his four hits and Pepperdine eliminated Clemson in the Fullerton, Calif., regional.
The Waves (31-28) scored three runs in the first inning and Fornaci added a solo homer in the second. Pepperdine added three runs in the sixth to build a 7-0 lead.
The Tigers (32-29) scored twice in the sixth inning and then sent 10 batters to the plate in the seventh, scoring six runs to take an 8-7 lead. Tyler Krieger and Chris Okey had two-run singles and Tyler Slaton ripped a two-run triple that gave the Tigers the one-run lead.
