At N.C. State, 9 p.m. Tuesday, WBTV (Ch.3)
A couple of months ago, everyone assumed North Carolina would have become the second program in NCAA history to reach 2,000 wins by the time it suited up for Tuesday's game at N.C. State.
But after three straight losses, the Tar Heels are still stuck at 1,996. And the Wolfpack, after walloping No.7 Duke, won't make it any easier to reach that mark.
North Carolina's five-day layoff between games couldn't come at a better time, with starting forward Ed Davis trying to recover from a sprained left ankle, and the Tar Heels (12-7) trying to figure out how to dig out of their 1-3 ACC hole. They almost certainly will fall from The Associated Press Top 25 on Monday for the first time since the 2005-06, but their next goal needs to be to avoid getting knocked around the RBC Center.
Or it might take an awful lot longer to reach 2,000.
