Both on and off the court, the CIAA preliminaries have ended. It’s down to the real deal, starting Friday.
The CIAA tournament men’s and women’s divisions have reached the semifinal round, including the hometown Johnson C. Smith University men’s team. Friday’s games will set the stage for Saturday’s championships.
But the social schedule will be hectic, with the Toyota Fan Experience and dozens of parties scheduled at restaurants and clubs throughout the Charlotte area.
The Fan Experience starts early Friday, with nationally syndicated morning radio show host Yolanda Adams broadcasting live from 6-10 a.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center.
Actor and singer Mack Wilds will headline a 9 p.m. concert as part of the Fan Experience, and the Taste of Food Lion cooking demonstrations will continue Friday evening.
Four Charlotte-area teachers already are winners at the CIAA tournament. They were honored Wednesday during Education Day activities, receiving Food Lion gift cards and other items.
The winning teachers, honored for their work, were Tiffanie Johnson and Elizabeth Jordan, each of Coulwood Middle School; Shamar Knight Justice, of KIPP Charlotte; and Marian Thompson, of West Rowan High.
