The Observer’s high school football players of the week:
Gage Moloney, Wally Wilmore, Rock Hill Northwestern: Moloney led his team to four second half touchdowns and a 34-12 rout of 11-time S.C. state champ Byrnes on the road Friday. Moloney completed 29-of-39 passes for 443 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran nine times for 28 yards in a score. Wilmore had six catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns as Northwestern won at Byrnes for the first time since 2001 and sent Brynes to its first 1-3 start since 1992.
Kingsley Ifedi, Jeremiah Hall, Jaylin Carr, Vance: Ifedi set a school-record with seven touchdown passes in Saturday’s 77-28 win at James Island Charter (S.C.). Vance set a school-record for points and Ifedi completed 23-of-27 passes for 367 yards. Hall caught six passes for 105 yards and three scores. Carr caught seven passes for 109 yards and three scores.
Demarkes Stradford, Charlotte Latin: Stradford played just over three quarters in Friday’s 47-17 victory over Raleigh Ravenscroft but finished with 13 carries for 204 yards and two scores. He returned three punts for 115 yards and a touchdown. He had a kickoff return of more than 50 yards.
Jack Davidson, Myers Park: Davidson was 15-of-25 passing for 168 yards in a 14-11 win over South Meck. he also ran for 47 yards and a score to help his team to its first 4-0 start since 1983.
Emanuel Wilson, North Meck: He had 16 carries, 213 yards, five touchdowns in a 52-2 win over Community School of Davidson Friday.
Bryce McClain, Marvin Ridge: McClain completed 15-of-23 passes for 206 yards and two scores in Friday’s 42-27 win at Providence Day. Also ran 19 times for 171 yards and a third score.
Deandre Staton, Monroe: Staton had 12 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for a loss in Thursday’s 21-7 victory over Weddington. Staton has 11 sacks this season.
