Janelle Bailey, Erin Whalen, Providence Day girls: In a pair of showcase games against two of state’s top girls teams – Ardrey Kell and Northside Christian – Bailey put up 47 points, 17 rebounds and led her team to two wins. Whalen had 26 points, seven rebounds, seven assists in Saturday’s 65-39 win over Ardrey Kell.
Laila Barnes, West Charlotte girls: Freshman had 25 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks and an assist in a 56-52 win over Harding last Tuesday.
A’lea Gilbert, South Mecklenburg girls: Nine points and 13 rebounds in an upset of Butler last Tuesday; 28 points, nine rebounds in a win over Central Cabarrus Friday.
Michael Grigg, Christ The King: Made 14 free throws in the fourth quarter and led his team to a 63-61 upset of Davidson Day last Monday. Grigg finished with 26 points. The next day, Grigg had 30 in a 93-82 loss to Carmel Christian.

Cam Hamilton, Vance: Junior guard, averaging 25 points per game, led Vance to a 72-67 win over West Forsyth Saturday in the Bobby Martin Classic. Hamilton had 33 points, six steals and five assists.
Jairus Hamilton, Concord Cannon: 6-foot-8 sophomore had 21 points, 15 rebounds in 49-37 win over Olympic Saturday.
Kerstie Phills, Charlotte Christian girls: 31 points in a 64-48 win over Rocky River Friday. Phills, a 2014-15 all-state pick, has led her team to a 4-0 start.
Grant Williams, Trey Wertz, Providence Day: Williams had 57 points and 42 rebounds in three games last week, two against nationally ranked teams. Wertz had a team-high 22 points and made 10 free throws in the final minutes to help the Chargers upset national No. 12 High Point Christian 76-66 Saturday.
