Mooresville’s Blue Devils made a big statement to the 4A class in North Carolina Friday night.

Mooresville beat Hough 38-7 in a game that wasn’t so much surprising that Mooresville won, but for how Mooresville won. The Blue Devils held a Hough team – full of state championship potential and college talent – to 130 yards of offense, with a chunk of it coming in the fourth quarter when Mooresville’s starters were on the bench.

In this week’s poll, Mooresville jumps three spots and into the top 10, at No. 8.

• One new team joins the poll this week. Vance (2-0) is in at No. 15 after an unbeaten start under first-year coach Aaron Brand. Vance beat Hunter Huss 53-7 Friday and now has outscored two opponents 102-7.
